Nutrition
Nutrition
Many people don’t know what real food and a healthy, balanced diet look like. I help you understand how what we eat affects our entire system, from the way we process and digest food to our energy levels, mood, and brain power. Food can heal or hurt us, so finding the right balance with nutrition is essential to a healthy lifestyle. Eating nutritious foods doesn’t have to be difficult, boring, or bland. We are all bio-individuals, and I will help you find which foods are best for YOU in a way that is accessible and easy to incorporate into your life.
Yoga & Breath
Yoga & Breath
The ancient practice of Yoga involves concentration and deep breathing while moving into physical postures, otherwise called Asanas. Breath and Asanas are linked through the practice of Yoga, bringing harmony between the mind and body. It’s never too late to reap the mind, body, spirit benefits of Yoga, which you will understand as you continue to practice it. A variety of virtual Yoga and breathing classes for beginner to more advanced practitioners will be available through The Sweaty Girl Method soon. Let’s hit the mat or a chair and practice together!
Movement
Movement
Movement continuously enhances the way your body performs and the way it feels. The more you move, the better you feel and perform. Sedentary life can easily take over these days, but incorporating regular movement into your daily routine is easier than you think. You don’t have to go to the gym or “workout” to incorporate movement into your life. Incorporating movement can be as simple as walking, dancing, or even cleaning around the house, office, or yard. Moving can be fun, so let’s get SWEATY! We’ll find what moves YOU so you can implement it regularly into your life.
Wellbeing
Wellbeing
The end result of compiling all the pillars of The Sweaty Girl Method is wellbeing. Are you always on the go? Do you feel like your voice isn’t being heard? Do you have trouble saying no? Are you doing for others before you do for yourself? YOU are the biggest priority in your life. As you begin to understand this, freedom will come! Freedom to make choices that break the chains of actions and thoughts that don’t serve you. The Sweaty Girl Method will guide you to this freedom through tools and exercises that bring calmness and peace into your life!
MY HEALTH JOURNEY
Hi, I’m Karla Perez. How did I come to be a Sweaty Girl? Throughout my life, I’ve always been physically active. Whether it’s been sports or fitness, I’ve always loved moving my body and getting sweaty. This built my strong body. Sports and fitness are not just about the physical aspect, it also requires mental awareness. It takes concentration, motivation, and determination. These characteristics contributed to building my impenetrable mind. I’ve always enjoyed a challenge and with my physical activities, my biggest competition has always been myself. I love to take things to the next level. Over time, these practices which came with sweat, tears, and mental tenacity, aided in building up my spirit and making me resilient. This is how I came to be a Sweaty Girl.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I used my attributes to prepare for my battle with cancer. I became a warrior. I applied the same techniques I’ve always practiced when it came to facing adversity. I put on my warrior helmet and suit of armor. I sharpened my spear, and got ready for battle.
I was born in El Salvador and raised in the United States. I graduated from Florida International University with a degree in International Business Management, but my passion has always been in the health, fitness, and wellness space. Since graduating college, I have also graduated as a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in March 2019.
I’ve been a breast cancer survivor since October 2018. My diagnosis led to a deep longing to love myself, nurture, and heal my mind body and spirit through modifications of lifestyle, nutrition, and movement. I have been living the Sweaty Girl Method since this moment, and I live a healthier, happier, and more resilient life today because of it. The tools and techniques of The Sweaty Girl Method got me through my battle with cancer and brought me to where I am today. I’m living my best life! I want to share these tools with you, so that you too can get through your battle with cancer, and thrive in a cancer free life! Let me guide you on the path towards YOUR resilient life through shifts in Lifestyle, Nutrition, & Movement.
